Effective transition from reception to year 1

This session is for Year 1 staff. It will support staff to improve their knowledge and understanding of EYFS and support planning a flying start to Year 1. During this session we will:

develop understanding of assessment in EYFS;
explore the areas of learning, educational programmes and ELG’s;
support meeting the requirement of the EYFS Profile Handbook.

The main purpose of the EYFS profile assessment is to support children in a successful transition to key stage 1 by informing the professional dialogue between EYFS and key stage 1 teachers. It should inform teachers about each child’s stage of development and learning needed. It will help them to plan the key stage 1 curriculum to meet the needs of all children.
