Developing a trauma responsive school

Wednesday 18th May 2022  •  9am – 10:30am

An introduction for senior leaders, SENDCOs and DSLs in supporting children effectively with behaviour and wellbeing through a trauma responsive approach.

drb are delighted to introduce Stuart Guest. Stuart has over 15 years’ experience as a head teacher and is a father of a birth child and two adopted children. He has developed trauma friendly approaches at his school and can demonstrate the positive impact this can have on pupils, families, staff and outcomes for his school. He will explore:

  • the importance of considering children’s past experiences when they are in the safe environment of school?
  • is it possible to become a mainstream trauma informed school with minimal resources?
  • the notion of a ‘trauma responsive school’ and the practicalities of turning it into a reality.
