Summer safeguarding update with Matt Sparling
Given the significant changes proposed for Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 and the SEND White Paper by the DfE, this session will look at the key changes and considerations for safeguarding in schools for September 2026. In the session, Matt Sparling will cover:
- the main considerations for schools in KCSIE including the significant changes to part 5: sexual violence and sexual harassment between children in schools and colleges;
- the expectations of staff and the management of safeguarding including the DSL role;
- the changes to SEND policy and the increased safeguarding awareness for children with SEND;
- how staff can differentiate between SEND needs and safeguarding or child protection concerns.
